USEF Rules In Effect Regarding Withdrawal after Joint Injections, Shockwave Therapy

Starting today, the United States Equestrian Federation’s (USEF) rules regarding a washout period after joint injections and shockwave therapy begin for the 2015 competition year.


For intra-articular injections, a four day withdrawal time prior to competition has been instituted. A three-day withdrawal from competing is mandated after shockwave therapy.
The new rules were passed at USEF’s Annual Meeting in January 2014.
The Guidelines for Drugs and Medications has been updated for 2015 and can be downloaded here.
Also online, is the Medication Reporting Form for forbidden substances being utilized for therapeutic purposes and under the directive of a veterinarian.
