Orange County authorities and the recovered saddles.
A North Carolina racehorse trainer is facing a felony charge after authorities say he was in possession of $60,000 worth of stolen saddles.
Ron Nixon, Jr. was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony possession of stolen property. He is being held in the Orange County jail on a $75,000 bond.
A search warrant was obtained and twelve saddles were seized from a storage unit. An ad on eBay and matching serial numbers led to the saddles’ discovery.
The stolen loot landed in the states after being taken from Park Lane Stables in Ontario, Canada in November 2013. Twelve teenage girls were the victims of the theft. Included in the group of thirteen stolen saddles was an Antares, a Bates, Butet, and several other close contact saddles.
