Kathie Digilio's horse eats part of a feed bag.
A Texas veterinarian is facing charges of animal cruelty after officials seized 36 horses. The Waller County District Attorney’s office executed a search warrant Friday at the property of Kathie Digilio.
A warrant has been issued for Digilio’s arrest, according to the prosecutor’s office. She is reportedly going to turn herself in on Monday.
Digilio, of Hockley, is a small animal veterinarian that neighbors have been complaining about for years. They allege her horses are underfed and neglected.
Volunteers from True Blue Animal Rescue assisted the Waller County Sheriff’s office with the seizure. Two veterinarians, including a specialist from Texas A&M examined the horses.
Digilio sued three women in November 2014 for slander after they posted on social media regarding the alleged neglect. The case was dismissed earlier this year. Digilio was ordered to pay the defendants’ attorney fees.
