Teen Equestrian Dies at Aiken Horse Farm

The Aiken County Coroner’s office ruled the death of a 12-year-old equestrian at Paradise Farm in South Carolina an accident. Kimberley Grayce Roach, of Ohio, died of severe head trauma.

The young rider was found early Thursday afternoon in her horse’s pasture, according to the coroner. There were no witnesses to what happened, but she was reportedly not riding the horse.

Roach was in town with her horse trainer. Her parents purchased a horse for her two weeks prior and they were leasing stalls at Paradise Farm, according to a source. She was pronounced dead at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

Eventer Lellie Ward offers training and coaching services at Paradise Farm in dressage, cross country and show jumping. The farm also offers horse boarding, horse shows and other events at the 100-plus acre equestrian venue.
