Horse Adoption Background Check

Is your non-profit horse rescue [or small animal pet rescue] ready to screen potential animal adopters?

Ask about the Horse Authority Partner Program, which offers benefits to non-profit groups that use background checks to enhance their due-diligence. As a Horse Authority Partner, these organizations commit to our mission of the improvement of horse welfare and earn valuable benefits including donations, marketing assistance, and more.

Horse Adopter Due Diligence

Before your horse rescue adopts another horse to a new home, it’s time to consider adding a horse adoption background check as part of the due diligence process for all potential horse adopters.

[Or maybe your organization needs to implement a screening method for the first time.]

Likewise, improve the chances that your rescue’s horses won’t end up needing to be rescued again in the future.

A $35 FRCA compliant background check confirms your potential horse adopter is who they claim, and as a result provides a historical picture of the individual, their past decisions, and any convictions that would make them an unsuitable rescue horse owner, including crimes against animals.

Consequently, animal cruelty can be a low-level crime so it’s more easily hidden.

Flush out animal cruelty records as a result of hoarding, animal abuse, neglect, and animal sex crimes.

Adopt your rescue horses to new homes with confidence as a result of a better way to screen horse adopters.

Easy, Effective, and Secure Horse Adoption Screening

  1. First, complete your purchase. You will receive a unique order number, a downloadable consent form, along with a link to Horse Authority’s secure background check portal.
  2. Have the potential horse adopter fill out the consent form legibly, with signature, and return it to you.
  3. Login to secure background check portal and enter applicant’s information. Keep the consent form for your records.
  4. Background screening results are provided directly to you, on average, within two to three business days.

Alternatively, you can have prospective horse adopters complete the Self-Background Check and provide you with the results. In this situation, it should be added to the Horse Adoption Screening Form as a requirement.

Horse Authority does NOT have access to any background check results.
