Jerry Lawson aka Jeffrey Scott Haywood
A Massachusetts judge sentenced fraudster boarding stable manager Jerry Dawson to prison Tuesday.
Dawson will serve up to four years in prison for nine counts including larceny and forgery.
The defendant stole at least $100,000 from the out-of-state owners of Canter Brook Equestrian Center in Hamilton. Dawson forged Jack Larmer’s signature to obtain a mortgage on the property.
More than money has been stolen from victims Jack and Katherine Larmer of Virginia. The couple’s peace of mind has also been taken by Dawson. An investigation into an alleged murder-for-hire plot continues, according to prosecutors. Dawson allegedly attempted to hire a fellow inmate to murder the Larmers.
The prosecution asked for a minimum six to eight-year prison sentence. Dawson has a trail of arrests for various schemes in multiple states on the east coast. Prosecutors say Dawson goes by multiple names including Jeffrey Scott Haywood, Gordon Horvath, and Jerry Larson.
Once released, Dawson will serve five years probation. He must also pay $100,000 in restitution.
