Metro and his new coloring book.
A 12-year-old retired off-the-track Thoroughbred is extending his artistic flair after bum knees ended his horse racing career. Metro Meteor is best known for his colorful paintings and is sharing the fun with a new coloring book for his fans.
A best selling artist at Gallery 30 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Metro is upping his game. The bay horse designed his first coloring book Coloring with Metro, which is now for sale. The drawings are designed by Metro and his owner, Ron Krajewski.
Krajewski says Metro loves to stand at the easel. “Metro will paint with whatever he can hold in his mouth, be it a brush, paint pen or Magic marker.”
His owner, an artist by trade, does the initial drawing then hands the paint pen to Metro, who proceeds to draw all over the canvas holding the pen in his teeth. Metro’s paintings have raised more than $80,000 to secure other retired racehorses second careers and loving homes.
Metro challenges everyone to find their inner artist with his latest project. Support Metro and his work by clicking here.
Krahewski’s book Painting with Metro: How a Crippled Racehorse Rescued Himself (and Me) with a Paintbrush is scheduled for an April 2016 release date and is available for pre-order.
