Hunter/Jumper Trainer Charged

Virginia authorities arrested Wellington horse trainer Rob Bielefeld after he allegedly “forcibly fondled” a stranger.

The incident report states deputies responded to a hotel in Rockbridge County late Monday night after the alleged assault. Authorities took Bielefeld, the owner of RSB Farms, Inc., into custody early Tuesday morning. The Commonwealth charged him with attempted sexual COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA v ROBERT S BIELEFELD.battery, indecent exposure, and misdemeanor assault.

Bielefeld was in Lexington to judge at the Lexington Spring Encore Horse Show, which started May 1. A source says his judging services were not utilized after he posted bail.

Later this month Bielefeld is scheduled to judge at one of the country’s most premier competitions, the Devon Horse Show. According to the Pennsylvania horse show’s website, he will be ringside for the Pony Hunters, Hunt Seat Equitation, and Pony Hunter Breeding.
The ‘R’ Hunter judge serves as a Mentor in the United States Equestrian Federation’s (USEF) Hunter and Hunter Seat Equitation Judge’s Mentor Program for new judges.
Officials aren’t releasing specific details regarding the alleged incident. Bielefeld is scheduled to make his next court appearance on June 4.
