The horse trainer charged in connection with an FBI child sex sting waived his right to a jury trial today. Kenn Acebal will now face a judge in a bench trial.
FBI officials say Acebal allegedly attempted to meet with what he thought was a boy for sex in April. He was arrested in Ringgold, Georgia and charged with three counts of criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation, three counts of criminal attempt to commit child molestation, and three counts of child computer pornography.
Rate My Horse PRO contacted Sam Sanders, Acebal’s defense attorney in the case, however, our call was not returned.
Acebal’s bench trial has not been scheduled.
Acebal could also face charges stemming from a June arrest. Deputies report he was driving naked; a small bag of meth and a pipe were allegedly found when his vehicle was searched. Acebal is waiting to go before the Grand Jury to see if charges will be filed in the case.
