The former owner of an illegal horse transportation company has been sentenced to 10-years probation. Margaret “Happy” Huguley was adjudicated guilty of grand theft over $20,000.
Huguley, of Florida, accepted a deal that allowed her to plead nolo-contendere to the lesser felony charge. As a part of her deal, Huguley must pay $100,000 in restitution, complete 100 hours of community service and she must be gainfully employed.
Accused of stealing $140,000 from a Panama City business over a two-year span, Huguley was charged with grand theft over $100,000 last summer.
Huguley and her husband, Corey Huguley, operated Blue Ridge Equine Transportation and other horse businesses, including Sliding Spurs Equine. Corey Huguley also has a criminal record.
