Wheeler’s alleged victim and relative, now 20 years-old, states the abuse began when she was six or seven. The last incident occurred when she was 16. According to the arrest affidavit, she “said one of the reasons she never told was because he would use the horses against her.”
She says he also told her they would both get into trouble if anyone found out and “that what happened between them was no one else’s business.”
Earlier this month, Wheeler was arrested in another case and charged with 9 counts of capital sexual battery, 4 counts of lewd and lascivious conduct and 3 counts of sexual performance by a child.
The Osceola County Sheriff Department’s investigation began the day prior in that case, when a 9 year-old came forward alleging she was sexually battered by Wheeler. She says it started when he forced her to perform a sex act on him when she was 5 years-old.
“She said he “raped” her in his motorhome and he would take her to the ranch and rape her. She described rape as being touched in a way you don’t want to be” according to the court filing.
He was released on $115,000 bond before his re-arrest last week.
Wheeler opened his trail riding business in 1992, according to the stable’s website, which it brands as a “Florida family friendly attraction.” Services also advertised include scout and riding lesson programs.
Detectives searched Wheeler’s home and farm. Electronic devices were seized and authorities say he could face additional charges.
Wheeler remains in jail without bond.
