Extra H-2B Visas Could Benefit Horse Industry

Temporary, seasonal workers

The Department of Homeland Security has reportedly decided to offer extra H-2B visas for temporary, seasonal workers.

The visas for non-agriculture workers help a variety of businesses, including the horse industry. It could benefit horse trainers and owners unable to find American workers to fill semi-skilled jobs at the race track, horse shows, and farms.

The government offers 66,000 of these visas yearly.

The extra visas will be available to employers that show harm if they aren’t able to temporarily hire foreign workers.

It is unknown how many extra visas will be issued. The department states it expects to start issuing these visas as soon as late July.
