EIA Confirmed in Fourth Colorado Horse

Fremont County, Colorado

December 4, 2018

Colorado state veterinary officials report a fourth horse is positive with the deadly Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA). A veterinarian euthanized the horse located in Fremont County after it was tested for “routine movement purposes.”

The state quarantined the rodeo grounds at Royal Gorge Rodeo and about two dozen horses stabled on site in Canon City.

Agriculture officials say they are investigating the case, although it, “appears to be unrelated to the prior three cases of EIA”.
