Abuse of the horse
The ground jury at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton CCI**** sanctioned U.S. rider Elisa Wallace with a yellow card. It happened after her cross-country ride on Simply Priceless.
Wallace’s fall at the last obstacle eliminated the pair from the competition.
Technical Delegate Alec Lochore states the Ground Jury interviewed Wallace. They sanctioned her with a yellow card for abuse of the horse, article 526.1, following her fall at the Mitsubishi Final Mount fence.
The video at 6:08 shows a long gallop prior to the last fence where Wallace fell. Neither horse nor rider was injured.
The Wallace Eventing owner from Jasper, GA adds, “I’m disappointed in myself for letting down my horse, my country, and my sport. I should have pulled him up. And I agree with the Ground Jury giving me a yellow card.”
Wallace adds she will never make the mistake again. “I am lucky we are both unscathed.”
German rider Ingrid Klimke’s round with Andreas Busacker’s Horseware Hale Bob OLD put them in first place at the end of a tough cross-country day at the 2017 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials.
The pair finished 9th after show jumping due to 16 jump penalties and 7 time added to the final score.
