A convicted sex offender serving life behind bars is accused of conspiring to murder those that put him there. Loomes Wheeler, Jr., the former operator of Horse World Riding Stables, in Florida, is charged with six counts of solicitation to commit murder.
Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement served an arrest warrant Wednesday at the Gulf Correctional Institution where Wheeler is serving two life sentences for lewd and lascivious molestation. Wheeler is reportedly a millionaire and ran the central Florida riding stable where he molested his victims.
The convicted child molester tried to hire a hitman from prison to kill the judge, prosecutor and the detectives stemming from his child sex case, according to the probable cause affidavit. He is also accused of trying to have his juvenile victim offed.
Wheeler enlisted the assistance of an inmate to help him find a hitman. He wrote in a letter, “but if you try to XXXX me I will have you killed…”
In November, Wheeler allegedly offered a law enforcement agent, posing as the hitman, $95,000 to shoot the victims as soon as possible. By December, Wheeler was tired of waiting, according to court documents and he threatened the inmate and the hitman if the job wasn’t completed soon.
“… While the public might believe judges often receive threats to their safety or the safety of their families, fortunately that event is actually quite rare,” said Ninth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Fred Lauten.
