Claire Davis Memorial Celebration Scheduled

A celebration is scheduled to remember the life of 17 year-old equestrian Claire Davis. She died eight days after being shot in the head by a lone gunman at Arapahoe High School in Colorado.
The Claire Davis Memorial Celebration of Life is scheduled for January 1 at the National Western Events Center at 1 p.m.
Additionally, the 108th National Western Stock Show will honor Davis by re-naming a popular hunter/jumper event in her honor. Formerly called the Gambler’s Choice, the event will now be known as the Claire Davis Memorial Gambler’s Choice Horse Show.
“The National Western does a wonderful job of supporting young equestrians, like Claire. We’re so appreciative that they’ve agreed to host this special celebration of Claire’s life and for everything they’re doing to honor Claire’s memory,” said her mother, Desiree Davis.
A moment of silence will also be observed in Davis’ memory prior to all ticketed events at this year’s shows, according to officials.
The show’s President and CEO, Paul Andrews said his group is honored to host the celebration in her memory, “Claire’s passion and love of horses and competition embodied what we deeply value at the National Western Stock Show. She was an excellent equestrian and a great example for all youth in the world with her positive attitude and leadership.”
There is no charge to attend the celebration to remember Davis, but to ensure that the facility’s seating capacity is not exceeded, those planning to attend must have a ticket.
