Chiacchia Ordered to Wear GPS Monitoring Device

A former Olympian has been ordered by a Florida court to wear a GPS monitoring device. Eventer Darren Chiacchia appeared in a Marion County court Thursday before Judge Hale Stancil. He was represented by his public defender at the hearing.
Chiacchia was arrested in Buffalo, New York on an active warrant late last month. He refused to waive his extradition to Florida and his bail was set at $10,000. Chiacchia’s bond was posted the same day of his arrest.
He was given until July 8th to report to the Marion County Circuit Court by the New York Judge, according to Assistant State Attorney Brad Robinson.
The bronze medalist is scheduled to be back in court Tuesday, July 8th at 8:00am for a pre-trial detention hearing.
Chiacchia is charged with felony unlawful acts prior to sex. The trial is scheduled for July 28.
