A Kentucky man accused of killing three members of his family, and a fourth individual at his parents’ home, could face the death penalty. Ryan Champion is charged with four counts of capital murder and a single count of kidnapping.
Court documents obtained by Rate My Horse PRO reveal horrific details of how Champion allegedly massacred his family. The criminal complaint states Champion restrained his equine veterinarian sister using duct tape to bind her hands, feet, and face. Champion allegedly shot Emily Champion in the head with a .45 caliber semi-automatic weapon.
He is accused of shooting his mother, Joy Champion, in the same manner. Also gunned down was his father, Lindsey Champion.
The man originally named as the suspected gunman just over a week ago, at the Trigg County home, we now know is a homicide victim. Vito Riservato was shot in the face by Champion, according to the arrest warrant. Riservato is still a suspect.
Authorities have not released a motive.
Champion, who is unemployed, was arraigned Monday. He was assigned a public defender.
Champion is scheduled to be back in court for a preliminary hearing on November 13th. He remains in jail on $5 million cash bond.
