California Brand Inspector Charged with Stealing Horses

A brand inspector for the California Department of Food & Agriculture is accused of stealing two horses.

Summer Tex was booked into Madera County Department of Corrections on a charge of grand theft after she turned herself in over the weekend.

Tex was supposed to ship the horses to Harris Ranch in Fresno County for their owner, but the equines never arrived. That was more than six months ago and the horses still have not been located. A $10,000 reward is offered for the safe return of each horse.

The case is being investigated by Madera County Sheriff’s office and the California Department of Food & Agriculture Brand Inspector’s Office.
