Boyd Martin and Trading Aces Unbeatable in $50K Wellington Eventing Showcase

Boyd Martin’s Former Eventer Trading Aces Dies

In Memory

Former eventing horse turned equitation mount Trading Aces died suddenly of cardiac arrest Monday.

Eventing Nation was the first to report the death of Boyd Martin’s former upper level mount.

The 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding was enjoying a less stressful career since 2015. His sale to junior rider Alex Pielet meant moving to the hunter/jumper ring.

Pielet took to social media regarding Oscar’s death.

Martin sold Oscar last year after the horse’s ongoing struggle with stamina on cross country at the four-star level. The horse had many successes with Martin including CIC3* wins at Richland Park and Red Hills.

Phillip Dutton also paired with Oscar in 2014 while Martin recovered from an injury. Together Dutton and Oscar had a top ten finish at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event before being selected to represent the United States at the World Equestrian Games.
