Otter Creek Ranch horse
Deputies are investigating allegations of animal neglect after four horses were discovered dead at a Wisconsin stable.
Details are limited at this time, although in a statement the Polk County Sheriff’s Department confirmed its investigation into conditions at Otter Creek Ranch in Milltown. Officials say “the health and physical condition of some of the horses is at the heart of the investigation as well as the ranch owners’ ability to properly provide for the animals.”
Necropsies are being performed on two of the horses to determine the causes of death.
The farm, located in the western part of the state, offers boarding, horse training, riding lessons, and trail riding, according to an advertisement posted for the business. The owners reportedly own appaloosas. Their herd consists of about eighty horses and many other domestic animals.
The ranch owner is reportedly cooperating with authorities.
