Three counts of animal cruelty charges were dropped against the operator of a purported Virginia horse rescue.
Cassy Newell-Reed was charged after 42 horses were seized from New Beginnings Horse Rescue in King County in early June. Animal control received multiple complaints regarding unhealthy horses at the farm.
In July, a judge ordered the county to return the horses to Newell-Reed.
King William Commonwealth Attorney nolle prossed the charges Thursday, but authorities are reportedly continuing to investigate the horse rescue’s case.
